Béatrice de Michelena

Legal Counsel

Béatrice de Michelena joined Uteem Chambers in February 2021 as Legal Counsel. She advises on civil, corporate and commercial, industrial property, and alternative dispute resolution matters.

With a dual legal background in French and international law, Béatrice offers unique expertise in interpreting and applying the Mauritian Civil Code, rooted in French legal traditions. Her practice includes contract law, insurance law, property and inheritance law, securities, and private international law, bridging the gap between Mauritian and French legal systems for both local and international clients.

Before joining Uteem Chambers, Béatrice spent eight years as an Associate at ATRHET, a law firm based in Lyon, France. There, she advised and represented international corporations, public institutions, and private clients across civil, criminal, and administrative matters. She has pleaded before the Cour d’Appel, the Cour de Cassation, the Conseil d’État, and has even seized the European Court of Human Rights.
