About

Lakshchay is a Barrister who joined Uteem Chambers in March 2023.

He is regularly called upon to assist and represent clients before Mauritian Courts in relation to criminal, civil, commercial, banking, financial, employment, landlord and tenant, and family law. He has represented and assisted clients before most of the Courts and Tribunals in Mauritius.

Lakshchay also regularly advises on numerous corporate finances, guarantee and structured finance transactions involving international banks, financial institutes and other multinational corporations.

Lakshchay was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2017 at the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and was thereafter admitted to practice at the Mauritian Bar as a Barrister at Law in September 2019.

Lakshchay obtained his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Mauritius before completing a Graduate Diploma in Law and an LLM in Financial Regulation and Compliance at BPP Law School, London, United Kingdom. He thereafter completed the Bar Professional Training Course at Nottingham Law School.

Lakshchay did his pupillage under the supervision of Me. Sunil Lutchmun, Attorney followed by a pupillage at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions under the guidance of Me. M. Naidoo. He then pursued his pupillage at Ahnee-Duval Law Firm under the supervision of Me. Herve Duval, Senior Counsel before completing his pupillage at Varma Chambers under the guidance of Me. Yatin Varma.
